THE AYURVEDIC CASE FOR OILING YOUR HAIR

THE CORRECT WAY TO DO IT 

For the Ayurvedic head massage:

  1. Warm the oil to a comfortable temperature, avoiding overheating. Place the oil in a separate container and immerse it in hot water.
  2. Generously apply the oil to the hair, head, and scalp.
  3. Massage gently in circular motions, covering the neck, head, and face. Focus on massaging the scalp thoroughly, including the entire crown, forehead, ears, temples, behind the ears, and neck area.

THE MARMA POINTS

Target five marma points on the scalp known for their ability to alleviate modern-day stressors and influence pranic flow:

  • Kapala (hairline)
  • Brahmarandhra (top of the head)
  • Murdhni (vertex of the scalp)
  • Shivarandhra (upper midline of the scalp)
  • Manyamula (occiput)

Marma points therapy is a traditional Ayurvedic massage technique believed to sustain energy flow. Massage each marma gently in a clockwise motion for up to 5 minutes, avoiding vigorous rubbing. Allow the hair oil to remain for at least an hour or two before washing the hair.
